beeperbox is an open-source wrapper around Beeper Desktop that gives an AI agent one MCP endpoint for the chat networks connected to a Beeper account, such as WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Discord and Slack. It runs as a Docker container with a headless Beeper Desktop (Linux amd64 and arm64) or as a lite npx beeperbox server pointed at a Beeper Desktop you already run. The code is Apache-2.0 at github.com/hamr0/beeperbox, and the latest release is v0.9.2 from 30 September 2026. It is an independent project with no affiliation with Beeper.
The software is free. You need a Beeper account and a host to run it; the README lists about 1 GB of disk and 600 MB of RAM per container.
Linq sells managed iMessage, RCS and SMS lines with webhooks, from $260 a month on Pro, with a free Hobby tier for up to 20 contacts. beeperbox provides no phone numbers or lines: it acts through your own Beeper login, so reach depends on the networks you connect. Beeper connects iMessage only on a Mac, so the Linux container cannot reach iMessage. beeperbox has no webhooks; agents poll for new messages. It does cover Telegram, Slack and Discord, which Linq does not offer.
Developers building a personal or single-account assistant that reads and replies across many chat apps from one MCP server, and who are comfortable running Beeper themselves.
beeperbox supports 27 of the 77 features compared on Linq Alternatives.
