RingCentral sells RingEX, a cloud phone system with calling, team chat, meetings, fax and business SMS. Its developer platform has SMS and MMS APIs that send and receive texts from the account's numbers, a message store for history, and webhooks for message events. A text can only be sent from a number assigned to the signed-in user's extension; shared company numbers can text through one designated extension. Automated, high-volume or marketing texts go through RingCentral High Volume SMS, which costs extra.
RingEX Core is $20 and Advanced $25 per user a month paid annually ($30 and $35 monthly), with a monthly SMS allowance per user. High Volume SMS and TCR registration fees cost extra, and SMS works on US numbers only.
RingCentral texts over SMS and MMS, with no iMessage, no RCS and no WhatsApp found in its messaging docs. Linq sends iMessage, RCS and SMS for a flat fee from $260 a month, while RingCentral bills per user plus high-volume fees. RingEX is a phone system with calling, which Linq's API does not place or answer.
RingEX companies that want their apps to send and log texts from employee and company numbers.
