Routee

Overview

Routee is the cloud communications platform of AMD Telecom, a GSMA member that says it has a presence in 12 countries. Its REST API covers SMS, Viber, WhatsApp, voice, email, push notifications and number lookup, and its sister product Waymore adds marketing automation. The site also lists RCS and Facebook Messenger, but the API docs do not cover them, and the Telegram API only sends verification codes.

Pricing

Routee charges per message by country, with rates on its pricing page. In the US, SMS on a toll-free number costs $0.0085 outbound plus a carrier fee, and a toll-free number costs $0.60 a month plus $0.60 setup. WhatsApp packages start at $29 a month plus Meta's fees. RCS rates are on request. Email and push notifications have free plans.

How it compares to Linq

Routee does not offer iMessage. Linq sends iMessage, RCS and SMS through one API for a flat monthly fee from $260 with no per-message fees; Routee charges per message and offers RCS only on request. Routee adds Viber, email and voice calls, while Linq's docs say its API does not place or answer calls. Linq signs its webhooks with HMAC; Routee's docs say its callbacks are not signed. Linq reports SOC 2 Type II, while Routee lists GDPR compliance.
