simhook

simhook turns an Android phone into an SMS API with signed webhooks, a TypeScript SDK and an MCP server, hosted at simhook.dev or self-hosted under AGPL-3.0.

Overview

simhook turns an Android phone into an SMS API. The phone sends and receives through its own SIM, and a Go server keeps the records. It is made by a developer named Enes and started in 2026. The API, dashboard and Android app are AGPL-3.0 at github.com/simhook/simhook; the SDK and MCP server are MIT. The app is a signed APK from GitHub, not from Google Play.

Key features

  • REST API with scoped API keys
  • Sent, delivered and failed status plus incoming texts as HMAC-signed webhooks, retried for two days
  • Dual SIM support, with the SIM chosen per message
  • TypeScript SDK and an MCP server for AI agents, including a tool that waits for an incoming text

Pricing

Self-hosting is free with no limits; you supply a server, an Android 8.0+ phone and its SIM plan. Hosted plans: Free with 30 messages a day and 500 a month on one phone, Pro at $12 a month (10,000 a month, 3 phones) and Scale at $39 a month (50,000 a month, 10 phones). The pricing page says paid plans open soon and every account is on Free until then.

How it compares to Linq

simhook has no iMessage or RCS. It sends SMS from your own number and can be self-hosted. Linq is a managed service for iMessage, RCS and SMS from $260 a month on Pro, and cannot be self-hosted.

Best for

Developers and AI agent builders who want to send and receive SMS on a number they already own.
