SMS8

SMS8 is a hosted service that sends SMS and MMS through Android phones or iPhones you pair, with a REST API, OTP API, signed webhooks, GoHighLevel and an MCP server.

Overview

SMS8 is a hosted SMS gateway from NEXT LABS LLC. You pair an Android phone, or an iPhone through its iOS app, by QR code, and messages sent from the SMS8 dashboard, API or integrations go out from that phone's SIM and your real number. The service itself is closed source; its MCP server, CLI and SDKs are MIT on GitHub at 1fancy/sms8-sms-gateway, last updated in June 2026.

Key features

  • REST API to send SMS and MMS, read messages, and manage contacts and devices
  • OTP send and verify API
  • Signed webhooks for inbound SMS and delivery events
  • Rotation across several phones and SIMs
  • Two-way inbox, bulk sends, scheduling, auto-replies and opt-out handling

How it compares to Linq

SMS8 has no iMessage or RCS; it sends SMS and MMS from your own phones and numbers. Both charge flat monthly fees without per-message charges: SMS8 from $29 a month per device, Linq from $260 a month on Pro for managed iMessage, RCS and SMS lines.

Best for

Small businesses and GoHighLevel users who want to send SMS from their own phone numbers.
