AgentNumber provisions US phone numbers for AI agents through a REST API. Each number can send and receive SMS and handle voice calls, either with a hosted voice agent set up from a system prompt or by forwarding the call to your own server in OpenAI chat-completions format, with your streamed reply spoken back. The homepage says AI voice runs on Vapi and that the numbers are not VoIP. There is no iMessage, RCS or WhatsApp support. The site does not name the company behind it, and its terms and privacy pages return 404.
The homepage lists $5 per number (one-time), $0.02 per SMS and $0.05 per voice minute, paid in USDC on Base through the x402 protocol with no account. The API docs instead describe signing up, an API key and $10 credit packs, with calls at $0.05 a minute outbound and $0.03 inbound. No free plan is mentioned.
Linq sends iMessage, RCS and SMS and charges a flat monthly fee from $260 with no per-message fees, plus a free Hobby tier. AgentNumber covers SMS and voice only and charges per number, message and minute. Its API places calls, while Linq's docs say its API does not place or answer calls.
Developers who want a pay-as-you-go US number for an agent's texts and voice calls and do not need iMessage.
AgentNumber supports 12 of the 77 features compared on Linq Alternatives.
