MessagesBridge

Open-source MCP connector with a hosted relay and a local Mac agent that lets ChatGPT search iMessage history and Contacts and send confirmed messages from your own Mac.

Overview

MessagesBridge by Isaiah Dupree is an MIT-licensed MCP connector for ChatGPT (github.com/IsaiahDupree/messages-bridge). A relay on Vercel (messagesbridge.vercel.app) handles OAuth 2.1 sign-in and queues each tool call for a small Node agent on your Mac, which reads chat.db read-only and sends through Messages.app. You can deploy your own relay with Vercel and Supabase. The last commit is from 30 September 2026.

Key features

  • Tools: search_messages, list_recent_threads, get_thread, messages_status, send_message, search_contacts, get_contact and create_contact
  • send_message sends an iMessage to one recipient at a time after you confirm it in ChatGPT, never in bulk
  • Long-poll relay with short-lived jobs; the relay keeps no permanent copy of messages
  • The agent runs as a LaunchAgent, with pairing codes and per-Mac revocation
  • Attachments are flagged but not uploaded or decoded

Pricing

No pricing is published; you create an account on the hosted relay. Self-hosting needs Vercel and Supabase, whose free tiers the README says are enough. The Mac must stay awake.

How it compares to Linq

Linq is a managed API with its own numbers, webhooks, SDKs and iMessage features such as tapbacks and typing indicators, free for 20 contacts and $260 a month for Pro. MessagesBridge is free to self-host and uses your own Apple ID, but it is built for ChatGPT, has no webhooks or REST API, and sends iMessage text only, with no SMS, attachments or tapbacks.

Best for

ChatGPT users who want to search and answer their own iMessages from a chat.
