Sent

Sent is a unified API for SMS, MMS, RCS and WhatsApp with automatic routing and fallback, plus phone calls, for product teams and AI agents that message customers.

Overview

Sent is a messaging API that sends SMS, MMS, RCS and WhatsApp through one send call. Its router picks a channel and carrier route for each message and falls back to another provider or to SMS when a route fails. Founded in December 2023, Sent announced a $12M Series A in July 2026 and says it is an FCC-licensed US telecom carrier. The API also handles phone calls.

Key features

  • One endpoint for SMS, MMS, RCS and WhatsApp, with automatic routing and fallback
  • Templates adapted per channel, with WhatsApp and RCS approval
  • Two-way conversations, opt-out keywords, quiet hours and scheduled sends
  • 10DLC, toll-free, short code and alphanumeric senders, plus multi-tenant Sender Profiles, by API
  • Voice numbers with IVR, recording, conferencing and browser calling, enabled on request
  • HMAC-signed webhooks with a delivery log and dashboard replay
  • SDKs for TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, C#, PHP and Ruby
  • Hosted MCP server, a Claude Code and Codex plugin, and n8n and Node-RED nodes

Pricing

Pay as you go: $0.015 per active contact a month (anyone you messaged that month), plus carrier rates passed through at cost; US SMS is shown at $0.0047 a message. Leased numbers and registered senders add setup and lease fees. Light onboarding is free, with 6 pre-built OTP templates and 500 sends a day, and sandbox mode simulates requests at no charge. Enterprise agreements add a formal SLA.

How it compares to Linq

Sent does not offer iMessage, which is Linq's main channel. Both cover SMS and RCS. Sent includes WhatsApp in the same API, while Linq's WhatsApp is a separate beta API. Linq charges a flat monthly fee with no per-message fees, with Pro from $260 a month; Sent charges per active contact plus carrier rates. Sent's API places and answers phone calls, while Linq's API forwards inbound calls only. Both offer an MCP server and state SOC 2 Type II.

Best for

Teams that need SMS, RCS and WhatsApp in many countries with automatic fallback, and no iMessage.
